Owl Cam

Presenting the world's most famous Barn Owl, Molly. She can be watched 24/7 on a live feed from San Marcos, California. There are three owlets and two more eggs to hatch. One is due today.

Food Because Eating is Habit Forming

Some recent favorites at our house. The first is straight from the store: baked ricotta cheese with lemon and sugar. Very yummy and makes a great dessert.

Cobb salad, my current favorite, as made by my husband, who has taken over salad making around here and become quite the expert at it..

Sopa de Peña is my name for a Mexican style soup for which my friend Susan Peña gave me her basic recipe. It's the type of soup that can have just about anything added to it and it tastes good.

Presents in the Mail

Paul made a post office run today and found two presents waiting for me in the box. (I call any package that arrives by mail a present because one never knows if it ever will arrive.) lThe first was a lovely little ACEO done by Tori Jones who is known as zephi on Etsy. You are out of luck on this one but she has other wonderful things at zephi.etsy.com

The other package contained a pair of charming heart earrings (my new favorites) made by Norma of BeachcombersCove.etsy.com. I won them in a raffle that she held for fans of her Beachcomber's page on FaceBook.

Breaking News In Valley Stream

This 60 foot pine tree went over this afternoon, across the street from our house. High winds (gusts over 50 miles an hour) and soaking rains for the past 18 hours contributed to it's downfall. I sent these photos to Newsday but, with all the wild weather we've had today, I'm sure they have more dramatic photos to print. This was drama enough for us however.

Downed wires, of course.

The fire department arrived to block off the street.

All well and good now but will the tape be seen after dark?

No damage to the house and no one got hurt. Of course, getting in and out of the driveway might prove a tad tricky.

Beaded Bangle Bracelet

I made this bracelet using a pattern known as an African triple helix. It is a new type of beading for me but I'm having a lot of fun doing it. I just listed this particular bracelet for sale on my Etsy shop CabArray. I expect to be listing more in different colors in the very near future.

Florida Journal - Home Again

Arrived home on Thursday, March 4, after stopping to see a friend and relatives on the way back. These a few miscellaneous photos I took along the way.

The view from the back yard of the home where we stayed in Palm Beach Gardens.

A cow near the Georgia/Florida border.

A killdeer in Georgia waiting to fly north for the summer.

Along the road in the Carolinas.

Still a bit of snow on the ground as we entered Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania on Route 30.

Getting close to New Jersey.

It's fun to go but it's always nice to get home with my own little bed, my own little computer and my own little coffee pot.
