Uncle Johnny

I painted Uncle Johnny about 15 years ago from a photo taken in the 1960s. He was my Grandmother's younger brother. He was a dairy farmer in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania. His fields and barn are in the background.
The painting is oil on canvas, 18 X 24 inches. It was the first portrait I ever painted.

The Shepherd

I painted this little oil painting many years ago. It is 5 by 7 inches, oil on stretched canvas. It has been finished with two coats of Damar Varnish.

Watercolors

Below are three watercolors in various stages that I painted in February and March of this year. The top one shows the initial ink sketch before any color is applied. Sometimes I do just the sketch at the scene and then paint in the color later in the studio.

Wakodahatchie Preserve, Florida

The second shows a picture with part of the color in place.

Jones Beach, NY near the Fishing Piers
The third is a completed picture. You may notice I don't sign my pieces until the are finished.
