Florida Journal

Well, today is the first day or our trip. That is, it was supposed to be. The problem is El Nino which is messing with the weather and facilitated a bad storm hitting the MidAtlantic States. We would have been driving right into it. Commonsense prevailed and we stayed home. This is actually good because I thought of a few things I forgot to pack.

Our friend is still awaiting our arrival.

Milly Grenot

My friend Milly, passed away in the early morning of January 29, 2010, after a short illness. She was a multi-talented artist who worked in oil, watercolor, pastels and made three dimensional collages. She also painted rocks just for fun. She was a pint size lady with a giant talent.

Photographed on her 90th birthday and behind her is one of her oil paintings.

One of her watercolors.

Three dimensional colleges in white.

Painted rocks - some of the last pieces she created.

Milly and I next to one of her collages. This was taken at the reception of the 50th Anniversary Exhibition of the Long Island Craft Guild of which we were both members. The show was at the B. J. Spoke Gallery in Huntington, NY.

She was 91 when she left us..

Gingerbread Bundt Cake

A gingerbread cake baked in the cottage shaped bundt cake pan my brother and sister-in-law gave me for Christmas. It's big enough for 12 nice sized slices. I'm not the world's best cake decorator but the good part is, if the decoration is a disaster, one just eats the evidence.
