Tuesday at St. Ray's

This was a little watercolor that I finished on September 17th but I hadn't gotten around to posting. I did the sketch at the Marine Study Area in Oceanside NY. It's 6 by 6 inches on 140 lb. paper.

My Mystery Collection

Below are pictures of three pieces from my Mystery Collection. I call it that because I have no idea where or when these pieces were made. I am guessing that they were probably made in one of the Germanic states sometime in the 1880s or 90s. I am showing them here in the hope that someone seeing this post will be able to tell me something about them. Any information at all will be welcome.

Tuesday at St. Ray's - Watercolor on Gesso Board

Using a surface that does not absorb the watercolor as paper does was a new technique for me.

Tuesday at St. Ray's - A Watercolor

Cow Meadow
I did the pencil sketch of this view of Cow Meadow in Freeport, New York, in the late Spring. Today I finished adding the watercolor. It's a small piece, 4 X 6 inches, on Arches 140 paper. If you look closely you can see two Glossy Ibis near the water edge.

The Refuge is located in Jamaica Bay near JFK Airport.
Painted on 7 X 10 inches on Arches Watercolor Paper.
It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.
