This was a little watercolor that I finished on September 17th but I hadn't gotten around to posting. I did the sketch at the Marine Study Area in Oceanside NY. It's 6 by 6 inches on 140 lb. paper.

My Mystery Collection

Below are pictures of three pieces from my Mystery Collection. I call it that because I have no idea where or when these pieces were made. I am guessing that they were probably made in one of the Germanic states sometime in the 1880s or 90s. I am showing them here in the hope that someone seeing this post will be able to tell me something about them. Any information at all will be welcome.

Cow Meadow

I did the pencil sketch of this view of Cow Meadow in Freeport, New York, in the late Spring. Today I finished adding the watercolor. It's a small piece, 4 X 6 inches, on Arches 140 paper. If you look closely you can see two Glossy Ibis near the water edge. Tweet

The Refuge is located in Jamaica Bay near JFK Airport.
