Arcadia National Park, New Pastels
I finished these 2 small pastels this week. Both depict the shore at Arcadia National Park from photos I took many years ago. Both are about 4 1/4 x 5 3/4 inches, done on ColorFix sanded paper.

The Mackenzie District
I finished this 8 by 16 inch acrylic on cotton canvas board this afternoon. The subject is a view in the Mackenzie District on the South Island of New Zealand. It was painted from a photo I took while on a visit there in 2001. Tweet

Two Views of the New Zealand Mackenzie District
I finished both of these impressionistic pastels this week. They are small: 4 1/4 x 5 3/4 inches. I did both of them on sanded ColorFix paper. The first is up for sale at my Etsy shop. I'll put the other up by the weekend.

Newfoundland Journal - On the Wild Side
We saw a mother moose and her calf near the cottage where we stayed in Rocky Harbour. Mom didn't stick around for the photo op.
These were three of a flock of shore birds feeding on the beach near Martins Point.
Coming in for a bad landing was a Bald Eagle with what looked like a strip of meat and hide ripped off a moose carcass. It was too heavy to be carried far, nor could the bird gain any altitude, so it just flew low over the road, landed and started to chow down.
And speaking of chowing down, I caught this fox heading home with dinner for the family.

Looking Up the Glen
I used pastel board (a fairly new product) and soft pastels to create this picture of the view up Watkins Glen. I copied a photo I took one August several years ago. The glen is located near the south end of Seneca Lake, one of the New York State Finger Lakes.
