Cleaning Up Someone Else's Mess

A sewage treatment plant in Mamaroneck, NY was responsible for discharging plastic filters into the Long Island Sound. Two of my friends and I went to one of the beaches on the North Shore and spent an hour picking them up. We estimate that we recovered about 1500 filters. Sally had been out on a big pick up with other friends and they retrieved about 21,000 in the span of about 5 hours.

Thank you for doing that!
