Starting tomorrow I will be participating in the 30 Paintings challenge. I usually take a long time to do a piece of art so I can't imagine why I will be able to do this. However, it doesn't hurt to try.
I will be posting my daily (I hope) painting here every evening. Do come back and check out what I have done.
Now I have to find 30 photos of things I want to paint....

Fresh Water Pearl Winter White Caitlin Necklace
The Caitlin necklace is named after my niece, who is very fond of pearls and was the recipient of the first one I made in this style.
I thought it would be nice for a Winter Wedding but, of course, it would do for just about any occasion.
It's for sale in my Etsy shop: MarthaHorman for $175.00 US. Mention you saw this on my
blog in a convo to me before purchasing and I will reduce the price to $150.00. This offer
will be good to the end of December, 2013.
This last photo is not the necklace for sale but it is the same length and style and is included so that you may see how it hangs when worn.

My Mystery Collection
Below are pictures of three pieces from my Mystery Collection. I call it that because I have no idea where or when these pieces were made. I am guessing that they were probably made in one of the Germanic states sometime in the 1880s or 90s. I am showing them here in the hope that someone seeing this post will be able to tell me something about them. Any information at all will be welcome.

Tuesday at St. Ray's - Watercolor on Gesso Board
Using a surface that does not absorb the watercolor as paper does was a new technique for me.

Many Glacier - Watercolor
I have just finished adding the color to this little ink sketch that I did last August. It's 4 by 6 inches on cold press paper. This is the view across the lake from the Many Glacier Hotel in Montana.

I tried a new-for-me technique: painting in oil with a palette knife on gesso board. This is 12 by 16 inches.

The Twined Rug is Finished
The hardest part was cutting the strips of cloth. I went out and bought one of those cutting wheels that make a pinked edge so that the next one will go faster. The finished rug is approximately 26 by 36 inches. I was thinking of putting the rug up for sale but decided against it. After all, it is my first and I'm rather attached to it.

Bead Mystery Finished
If you saw my beaded bits back on my January 19th post and wondered what was going to come of them, here it is: a striped star.

Twined Rug - In Progress
Cutting strips for the twining takes the most time. I wanted to show you the start. You will notice that one works from the ends to the middle on this type of rug.

Finished and a little riddle...
I finished the loop scarf and I'm quite pleased at how it turned out.
And now for the riddle. These little pieces are components for a bead project I'm working on. Can you guess what the are?

In Progress
Started this pastel of the Middle Fork Flathead River in Glacier National Park. I thought it was done but after staring at it for a while I realized there were some glaring errors.
I'm also working on a looped yarn scarf, It's relatively easy to make but time consuming.
You may be wondering about the rug - I'm cutting stripes but expect to start weaving tomorrow. I'll get a picture up as soon as I can.

Twined Rug in Progress
This is as far as I have gotten. It took longer to cut the warp stripes than I thought it would because I had to keep oiling the pinking scissors after cutting every six or seven strips. The strips were about 2 yards long. I used an old but still very sturdy top sheet.
