#4 in 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

Gypsy Market  - Albufeira, Portugal

This 8 by 6 inch watercolor was painted on Arches paper. The subject was a photo I took in Portugal many years
ago. It was January but the sun was strong and during the day it was warm and the light was
very bright.

"Gypsy Market - Albufeira, Portugal" - $35.00. Available in my Etsy Shop.

#3 in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Fox Bats in Melbourne

This 7 by 10 inch watercolor was painted from a photograph I took in the botanical gardens in Melbourne, Australia. The grey-headed fox bat colony has grown large enough to be injurious to the trees in the garden. There was a big debate as to what to do about it. These bats have a wing spread of a little over three feet.

"Fox Bats in Melbourne" - $40.00. Available through my Etsy shop.

#1 in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

Irish Countryside

The hardest part of doing this watercolor was just sitting down to do it. I had stage fright. I ended up with a 7 by 10 inch painting from a photo I took when I was in Ireland in 2004. It is painted on Arches cold pressed paper.

Irish Countryside - $40.00 Available through my Etsy shop.

30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge for January 2014

Starting tomorrow I will be participating in the 30 Paintings challenge. I usually take a long time to do a piece of art so I can't imagine why I will be able to do this. However, it doesn't hurt to try.
I will be posting my daily (I hope) painting here every evening. Do come back and check out what I have done.

Now I have to find 30 photos of things I want to paint....

Fresh Water Pearl Winter White Caitlin Necklace

This Caitlin Necklace was made with a special occasion in mind. It is beaded with a mix of glass seed beads and luscious white Baroque fresh water pearls. The clasp is an sterling silver toggle. The necklace is 18 inches (47 cm) long, including the toggle.

The Caitlin necklace is named after my niece, who is very fond of pearls and was the recipient of the first one I made in this style.

I thought it would be nice for a Winter Wedding but, of course, it would do for just about any occasion.

It's for sale in my Etsy shop: MarthaHorman for $175.00 US. Mention you saw this on my
blog in a convo to me before purchasing and I will reduce the price to $150.00. This offer
will be good to the end of December, 2013.

This last photo is not the necklace for sale but it is the same length and style and is included so that you may see how it hangs when worn.

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.
