Fresh Water Pearl Winter White Caitlin Necklace

This Caitlin Necklace was made with a special occasion in mind. It is beaded with a mix of glass seed beads and luscious white Baroque fresh water pearls. The clasp is an sterling silver toggle. The necklace is 18 inches (47 cm) long, including the toggle.

The Caitlin necklace is named after my niece, who is very fond of pearls and was the recipient of the first one I made in this style.

I thought it would be nice for a Winter Wedding but, of course, it would do for just about any occasion.

It's for sale in my Etsy shop: MarthaHorman for $175.00 US. Mention you saw this on my
blog in a convo to me before purchasing and I will reduce the price to $150.00. This offer
will be good to the end of December, 2013.

This last photo is not the necklace for sale but it is the same length and style and is included so that you may see how it hangs when worn.

Finished and a little riddle...

I finished the loop scarf and I'm quite pleased at how it turned out.

Chenille knotted loop scarf.

And now for the riddle. These little pieces are components for a bead project I'm working on. Can you guess what the are?

Beaded Bangle Bracelet

I just finished this beaded bracelet. It's a variation on a bracelet designed by Cynthia Rutledge and featured in the April 2011 issue of Bead and Button magazine. She used faceted rondelles and I used round beads. I also changed a few sizes for the other beads. My base was the same as hers but I had to finagle just about everything after that.

Brookfield Craft Center

This weekend we went up to the Brookfield Craft Center in Connecticut so that Paul could take a two-day wood turning workshop.  He had never used a lathe before but under the tutelage of Buster Shaw, a master craftsman, he was able to make a honey dip on the first day and a bowl on the second.

The craft center is located in several old buildings centered around the old mill (c1780) which houses the administration offices and gift shop. The wood-working studio with it's assembly of lathes takes up half of the old railroad station across the road from the mill. The other half of the station is the glass studio.

If you are looking for a good craft workshop, you should check out Brookfield's web site. The folks are friendly and the workshops are very reasonable.
