This oil was painted from a photo of the Seine which I took from the Pont Neuf (the New Bridge) which was built in the early 1600s. It shows the view down stream toward the Eiffel Tower. This is an oil on canvas measuring 18 by 24 inches.

These are gorgeous. The painting makes me feel as if I am there!
Wow! Beautiful painting Martha. The reflections from the water is wonderful. I would love to be there right now.!
I like how you showed us the progression. When I saw the first picture, I thought, "But it doesn't look finished." I love the final picture - it does look finished. I love your use of light.
Beautiful! I was lucky enough to go to Paris a few years ago, and this brings back memories!
i realy like this glow
Martha,
I followed you from Sunshine's blog. I'm not an art lover (although I have a sister in law and a son who are artists!) ... so I had to stop and tell you that I found your painting BREATHTAKING!!! How do you know when to stop? I found the third progression almost as beautiful as the final! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing! Do you offer prints of this?
Thank you all for your kind comments.
Quack and Quill - I will be offering prints of most of my art work in the near future. If you keep an eye on my MarthaHorman shop (the rolling widget to the right of my blog post) they may be up later this week. I'm so glad you like them. To answer your other question, I know when they are done because the painting itself will tell me. If it isn't finished, it just sits there and annoys me. And that is the best explanation I can give you.
Fabulous job on this painting
Where have you been hiding this
never saw it in class
