New Zealand, South Island - SOLD
I just finished this pastel today. I used Pan Pastels with just a touch of Derwent pastel pencil on 9 x 12 inch Colourfix sanded paper. It was drawn from a photo I took when I was in New Zealand in 2001.

Lovely! I have seen the Pan Pastels, but never used them. How did you like them?
And how was the sanded paper with the Pan Pastels? I like the pastel pencils =)
I like the Pans for landscapes. They are also excellent to use to block in the first and second layers over which one can put regular pastel. Don't care for them for portraits - except the backgrounds. A friend uses them on unsanded pastel paper and does very nicely with them but does over lay them with sticks (Rembrant, I think.) I like the sand paper because it will hold a lot of color. Go to www.straysartclub.blogspot.com and click on Irma Lederer under Members to see how her stuff looks.
Thanks for the information and the link. Lovely work! I like the suede mat board for the same reason - grabs lots of color and holds it well.
