A percentage of all sales will go to St. Raymond's School.

All oils, Acrylics, pastels, watercolors and photographs plus high quality prints, both framed and unframed, will be on sale.

Julia - a new Portrait

I finished this portrait of my Grandniece on July 3rd. It's pastels on sanded 9 by 12 inch Colorfix paper. This was drawn from a photo taken when Julia was about 16 months old.

Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds

I just finished this pastel this week. I used a photo I had taken while we walking along a path named the Warden's Way. The section we traveled ran from Upper Slaughter, through Lower Slaughter, and then to Burton on the Water. The picture was done on Wallis sanded paper using mostly Pan Pastels with some Nu-Pastels, and touches of Unison and Rembrandt. The size is 12 by 18 inches.

Lisbon - View from the Tagus River

Lisboa

I finished this pastel yesterday. It was painted from a photo I took while crossing the Tagus River on the ferry. I had taken the train from Albufeira to Lisbon. The ticket included the ferry because there was no railroad bridge across the river.

The pastel is 12" X 18" on Wallis sanded paper. I used Pan Pastels, Nu-Pastels,  Rembrandt, and Unison pastels plus Derwent pastel pencils.

The Lynbrook Library Art Show

Every Spring the Lynbrook Public Library hosts an exhibition of the work created by people in the art programs sponsored by the village.

Hanging the Show

Our oil painting group is having our annual show in the Lynbrook Public Library.  Most of the work consists of Oil painting but there are some pastels and sculpture.

The library is located at 56 Eldert Street but the main entrance is actually around the corner on Carpenter Ave. The phone number for hours is (516) 599-8630.

The reception is Thursday, May 19, 2011, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Refreshments will be served. Please join us.

Two Views of the New Zealand Mackenzie District

I finished both of these impressionistic pastels this week. They are small: 4 1/4 x 5 3/4 inches. I did both of them on sanded ColorFix paper. The first is up for sale at my Etsy shop. I'll put the other up by the weekend.

Harvest

I won a Newcomers Award for this pastel still-life, "Harvest", at the Village Art Club Autumn 2010 Exhibition. It's 9 x 12 inches and was done on Colorfix Paper using mostly soft pastels.
